🇬🇧 Antonio Gesualdi was born in 1978 in the province of Naples and currently lives and works in Cava de’ Tirreni, at the gateway to the Amalfi Coast.

From an early age, he showed a strong inclination for the arts and a deep appreciation for nature. At just 11 years old, he began studying the art of bonsai—an interest that would take him to Japan and across Europe, eventually establishing him as one of Italy’s leading bonsai masters. After earning a degree in Agricultural Sciences and many years dedicated to bonsai, in 2013 he returned to his first passion: painting and sculpture, with a particular focus on the human figure. He currently collaborates with galleries in Italy and abroad.

In 2017, he discovered the world of pipes, first as a smoker and collector. What began as a hobby soon evolved into an extension of his artistic expression. His first pipe was crafted at the request of a friend, and from there, the journey began.

Working from his studio and workshop nestled in the tranquility of a Japanese-style garden, Gesualdi handcrafts each pipe using traditional Japanese woodworking tools. Drawing on his experience as a sculptor and bonsai artist, he creates pieces defined by classical shapes, essential lines, and remarkable smoking quality.

Today, his pipes are available exclusively through this website, often made to order. Each pipe is stamped, numbered, and recorded in a workshop logbook with a quick sketch. Every purchase includes a certificate of authenticity and a 12-month warranty—something unique in the pipe-making world and a testament to his background as a professional artist.

A distinctive aspect of his work is his self-sufficiency in sourcing and preparing briar wood. He personally harvests, cuts, and seasons briar—primarily from the Cilento region—using a unique method that enhances its natural characteristics, making it lighter, drier, and sweeter to smoke. This approach also helps maintain high technical and stylistic quality while keeping prices accessible.

To date, Gesualdi has sold over 500 handmade pipes, gaining a loyal clientele of enthusiasts who appreciate classic, well-constructed pipes that offer a dry and smooth smoke right from the very first use.

Antonio Gesualdi nasce nel 1978 in provincia di Napoli e oggi vive e lavora a Cava de’ Tirreni, alle porte della Costiera Amalfitana.

Fin da giovane mostra una forte inclinazione per le arti e per la natura. A soli 11 anni si avvicina all’arte del bonsai, passione che lo porta a studiare e lavorare in Giappone e in tutta Europa, fino a diventare uno dei maestri italiani riconosciuti in questo campo. Dopo una laurea in Agraria e anni dedicati al bonsai, nel 2013 sceglie di tornare alle sue radici artistiche: pittura e scultura, con un’attenzione particolare alla figura umana. Oggi collabora con gallerie in Italia e all’estero.

Nel 2017 scopre il mondo della pipa, inizialmente come fumatore e collezionista. Da lì, la costruzione di pipe diventa un’estensione naturale della sua pratica artistica. La sua prima pipa nasce quasi per gioco, su richiesta di un amico, ma nel tempo questo lavoro assume un ruolo sempre più importante.

Nel suo laboratorio immerso nel verde di un giardino giapponese, Gesualdi realizza pipe completamente a mano, ispirandosi alla classicità delle forme. Utilizza strumenti tradizionali giapponesi per la lavorazione del legno, integrando l’esperienza maturata come scultore e bonsaista. Le sue pipe si distinguono per precisione costruttiva, essenzialità delle linee e grande qualità di fumo.

Oggi le sue pipe sono disponibili in vendita esclusiva attraverso questo sito, spesso anche su commissione. Ogni pipa è punzonata, numerata e registrata con un disegno nel libro di laboratorio, e accompagnata da un certificato di autenticità e una garanzia di 12 mesi.

Una delle particolarità del suo lavoro è l’autosufficienza nella raccolta e stagionatura della radica, proveniente principalmente dal Cilento. Grazie a metodi sviluppati autonomamente, Antonio Gesualdi tratta e lavora personalmente ogni blocco, migliorandone le caratteristiche organolettiche e contenendo i costi, pur mantenendo alta la qualità tecnica e stilistica.
